Serious Box Jellyfish Sting in Phuket Region or Phangnga Region or was it Hua Hin Region??
This is not the ambulance that transported British woman Ms Sam Webster on a 6-hour hell ride from a popular west Phuket beach to the Bangkok Phuket Hospital some 10-15kms away.
That much, and only that much we know for sure - except that the sting marks she has are from a box jellyfish.
As reported in the British and Phuket media, Ms Webster was stung by a box jellyfish and hospitalised. What was not clear as mentioned in this blog was geographically where she was stung.
The Daily Mail blanket poo-pooed Thailand as a dangerous place while the Phuket media set out to show that there was no poo-poo on Phuket. No one knew for certain what had happened.

Well, it just so happens - perhaps according to some anonymous commentator at the end of the above article called 'Alan' - that Ms Webster's ordeal began at Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand where she was badly stung by what is clearly a box jellyfish. In the jungle somewhere out that way her wounds deteriorated so an ambulance was called to shuttle her to somewhere else, perhaps somewhere safe away from the lizards on the walls as reported in the Daily Mail.
Anyway, Ms Webster ended up it seems at Pran Buri Hospital near Hua Hin. But, inexplicably, was then whisked away to Phangnga's Takua Pa Hospital some 594kms away - even though Bangkok is 200kms away. But, inexplicably, was then whisked away to Bangkok Phuket Hospital in Phuket, not Bangkok, Phuket, where this all began, no ended.

Sorry .. with respect to Ms Webster her sting was serious and no laughing matter. As previously written in this blog her experience must have been excruciatingly painful and traumatic. However, the media handling of this has been ordinary to say the least with the Daily Mail's original piece full of holes and the filling of said holes by Phuket media somewhat shoddy.
